John-Ryan's Gonna BARK!
Founded in 1899, The Anti-Cruelty Society is Chicago’s oldest animal welfare organization and since that time, we’ve helped thousands of animals not only find homes, but stay happy and healthy in them.
This April will mark my ninth year of working at The Anti-Cruelty Society. In that time I’m proud to have played my small part in expanding and updating our low-cost clinic, helping to promote new education programs as they launch—educating our community how to best interact with other people’s animals and how to care for their own—and helping to promote hundreds of different events—all with the same goal: to help raise money for the thousands of animals we care for each year.
All of these things are noteworthy, but my greatest achievement at the Society is having adopted my pitbull mix, Abbie, in 2011. She came in as a stray and was a scared and skinny little girl. It didn’t take long after I took her home until she was a happy, healthy, peanut butter-craving-snuggle-monster who hops confidently into bed each night.
It’s impossible to neatly summarize the good work The Anti-Cruelty Society does each day. If you love animals, and believe in their welfare, please support our cause: throw me a few bucks, and let’s help some animals!
