From the heart: please help.
As we are all living through a brave new world, I know that there are a few things that I am most thankful for: my family and friends are at the top of the list. Next to that are those things in life that bring us the most meaning--and I can see the impact from The Anti-Cruelty Society is really making a difference. What I have also learned over the past two months is that when life changes around us, we have to adapt and change to keep up with the changing times.
I am so lucky to be part of The Anti-Cruelty Society and I know that last year, we were busy preparing for Bark In The Park. Needless to say, that event has been shifted from the park....to the heart as we cancelled the live event and instead launced Bark From The Heart because the need for funds is even greater. As most organizations, we have suspended most of our programing...and hence, our revenue stream. We have cancelled our fundraisers but the animals still need our help.
I adore that this organization did not step back. We made a commitment to keep our staff FULLY employed even though we cut hours and schedules. We did not cut their paychecks. We implemented a program to provide people impacted by COVID-19 due to hospitalization, or medical quarantine, or loss of job to get a pet care kit to help them feed their animals at no cost to them. We still do emergency surrendering and rescue. We are still supporting people who need temporary housing for their animals. And the list goes on.
So now, my friends, I am asking for your support too. I know this is a difficult time for many but we appreciate any gift you can provide to help us bring compassion, hope and the benefits of the human animal bond to those in need.
The Anti-Cruelty Society has been building a more humane Chicago for people and pets since their founding 1899. Since then, the Society has grown into Chicago's oldest and largest open admission animal welfare organization, and their programs and services improve the lives of thousands of animals and Chicagoans every year. The Anti-Cruelty Society’s mission is to build a community of caring by helping pets and educating people.
However, the care that The Anti-Cruelty Society provides to animals in need is only possible through the friendship of the community. I hope that you will support me and support Bark From The Heart. Your generosity will ensure that thousands of abandoned and neglected animals will find hope, comfort, and healing this year. Many thanks for your consideration! With love, Jennifer
